Plant Today and Harvest Tomorrow

Hello, my friend, it’s nice to share my thought with you, my friend. If it’s your first time, I welcome you specially and look forward to hearing from you.
I heard a heartwarming story from my mum a few years ago that always moves me to tears each time I think about it. When my mother was age 15, she didn’t have enough money to pay for her WAEC exam so she went to sell bread to raise the money. While she was doing that, a relative told her that she will never amount to anything. Hearing that moves her to tears but also motivated her to make efforts to ensure that it doesn’t happen as she was told. After she raised the money for the exam, she didn’t pass that year. She still didn’t give up. She went to babysit to raise money to try again. Few years down the line, the same woman will be completing her PhD program in the next few months and the same man that told her she won’t amount to anything begs her for help.

This story only explains that no one has a say over your life more than you do. You may have to depend on someone for something today but don’t for any second limit your imagination as a result of your current status from creating a better life for yourself. Please let me counsel you if you are in a place to help someone today “don’t look down on anyone because they depend on you but instead see it as a privilege”. It is important for you to know that if you don’t help someone, God will send another person to help and that means the blessing for helping someone has been transferred.

Proverbs 3:27

Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

1 Timothy 6:17-18

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

Apart from helping someone, you are creating an impact in your life and planting a seed for you and your children to enjoy the harvest. Another quick example is on my parents 32nd wedding anniversary, someone reached out to me and had this touching story. She said she would love to meet my dad because he is a good man and her family keeps talking about him. After reading that, a thought flashed through my mind “what do you want people to remember you for in years to come?” and “what impact do I want to leave in the life of people if I’m no more tomorrow?” Hmm! A deep question that I think you should ask yourself as you go about your business daily.

For you to enjoy harvest tomorrow, you must plant today. Interestingly some people plant but to take time to manure, water and weed occasionally. That’s the major thing that separates one person from another. If you sow early, your roots will go deeper and this will ensure that your tree grows stronger. That means that your children will be able to enjoy the benefits of your existence.

Proverbs‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭GNB

‬‬“Children are fortunate if they have a father who is honest and does what is right.”

My friend, The truth about me is that my today is as a result of the investments my parents have made in my life. At a young age, I made a commitment to myself that I will do more than what my father is doing in every aspect. This was not made from envy or competition but a heart that wants to make an impact that my generation would make reference to.

A few days ago was my parents 32nd wedding anniversary and I got a couple of messages from people, which got me thinking immediately. After hearing a heartwarming comment of the type of person my dad is and the impact he has had in a particular family, I asked myself “what do I want people to remember me with and what impact do I want to leave in the life of people if I’m no more tomorrow?” Hmm! The deep question that I think you should ask yourself as you go about your business daily.

Finally, I’ll like to wrap up our conversations with a prayer and I want you to sincerely pray and mean it “I will not work for another man to eat, I will be alive and well to eat the fruits of my labour”. Amen!!
Even in these times of uncertainty, I pray for you that all God planned for this year will come to pass for you speedily in the name of Jesus. Also, I pray that nothing will stop your shinning this year. Amen!!

I look forward to hearing your testimonies for sure but remember, if you don’t plant, you are the one preventing your harvest from coming.

  1. Really powerful and enlightening. The scriptures here really ministered to me especially 1 Tim 6:17-18.
I feel like that’s one of the mistakes that people in our generation are making
They are trusting so much in uncertain riches instead of in God

And this scripture has enabled me to catch myself and ask if I’m trusting in God or in the Investments I have made or bank balance

And I choose to realign myself today to trust in God instead of my investments and follow HIS plan because HE will surely give me all things richly to enjoy
Also, I must see helping others as a privilege granted me by God to be a blessing and to enjoy the harvest in days and years to come

    1. Hmm! I thank God and I’m super excited that this write up has helped you reevaluate and realign yourself.

    1. Planting season is very important but also taking care of your plant is very essential to making your plant a fruitful field.

  4. Amen! This is such a beautiful read.
It is very vital not to let the negative words of others stop you from actually realizing greatness
    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Always learn to block out the noise called negativity from people around and focus on the real voice from God.
