In today’s episode, change is important but it comes with challenges which we need to understand and accept before a smooth transition will occur and the benefits will come from it. I hope this write-up gives you fresh ideas about yourself.
Allow me to start by saying that every new level comes with its own unique set of challenges and difficulties, but I have read that it is credibility that provides justification for promotion.
“Do your best to win full approval in God’s sight, as a worker who is not ashamed of his work, one who correctly teaches the message of God’s truth.”
2Tim. 2:15 GNT.
What qualifies you for a change of level or progress is the continuous delivery of quality outputs in the tasks assigned. At this point, you have shown mastery of your current level and thereby qualified to attempt something more challenging, and qualifies for greater rewards.
Challenging situations are good but unfortunately most times, we focus on the negative effects that a difficult situation brings. After several experiences, I have made up my mind to look for positives and lessons to learn from every challenging situation. Challenges will stretch you and most importantly, develop you if you are willing. People struggle with new challenges because they are comfortable with where they are and what they have. I have learnt that change is difficult and always comes with resistance but I have also learnt that it is challenges that lead to changes.
Overcoming challenges qualifies you to attempt something bigger. Mastering the previous level qualifies you for the next level until you can be called a master of the game, an authority in your field. So each time you attain a new level, It’s an opportunity to appraise your previous performances and spend time drawing new strategies to improve your efforts and then attain greater heights.
Challenges test our knowledge and skill. When you are going through that difficult patch in life, remember that it is to test your learning over the years, through the patterns that you have studied in people, in other situations and in life. It is to ascertain whether you have been paying attention to the patterns, your environment, the trends, and what you have been able to glean from the happenings in your life, directly and indirectly. This is why it is foolhardy to enter a new space or territory without first studying the politics and culture of the place, its people, how the systems work and how you can work the system. Doing this will help you learn how to grow and thrive in the new environment you find yourself in. Your knowledge will in turn bring you credibility and then relevance. I once told a new employee not to give excuses of family or personal reasons when sent on an official assignment. Such opportunities are avenues for learning on the Job, personal development, networking and the list goes on. I urge you my friend apply yourself to the experience and take notes that would help you.
Someone might say, life isn’t fair and these challenges I am facing or have faced has nothing to do with you nor is it in line with anything. Hmm! I completely agree that sometimes you are lost about where, how and why you have to go through certain things. The truth is I don’t have that answer but what I can tell you for a fact is that you cannot allow the challenges you face to knock and keep you down. Think about it with me, a challenge? It is made to challenge you. What it is challenging? Am I even worth anything in the first place? 😂😂😂. I have heard that often and I have the best answer for you, Start rating yourself o because you are more important than you think. You may be nothing today but have the potential to be anything. You know what? Let’s take a chance and try something new, see yourself differently and let’s actually take baby steps towards it. What’s the worst that will happen? You don’t become someone of importance but what if you do? I challenge you 😁. If you are not willing to risk seeing the little things go wrong, you will never get the chance to see the big things go right in your life.
Practical steps to overcome the challenges of life and Enjoy the Benefits of God ordained Change;
Value the days of little beginnings. Pay attention to the quality of the foundation you build for your life because your future depends on it. Don’t throw away the knowledge, skills and equipment used to build a great future. This is because those artefacts will always keep you humble and grateful for where you are and where you are coming from. You are allowed to start small but are forbidden to remain small. I urge you to keep developing and growing.
Go in search of wisdom. This gives you the skill to navigate through difficult situations. Wisdom will help you know what to say, when to say and how to say certain things. Locate materials that will help you build your wisdom bank which till in turn improve how you talk and react to situations.
See yourself differently. People may call it pride but I call it value for yourself. You are quality so don’t see yourself as less. Every challenge shouldn’t determine the type and quality of person you become. Let your content remain constant irrespective of the circumstances or situations you find yourself.
Seek counsel. Be humble to ask for help from people that have experienced similar areas of life. You can read books or listen to stories because testimonies can be replicated if the same laws are obeyed. From mathematical equations, we know that following the formula will lead you to a similar answer.
Guard what you say. Don’t speak anyhow. If you speak anyhow, you will see anyhow. I have discovered that people are very religious but far from that in their actions. We pray for the best but act and plan for the worst. It’s so unfortunate because certain words said have shut the door to solutions. Don’t be quick to speak but instead be intentionally quiet till you have something worthwhile to say.
Take steps. Talk is cheap like we hear always so I will urge you that in planning for success, set short-term goals or like we call it in the business world, low-hanging fruits. The reason for this is it brings motivation to target a little higher ones. If you set huge targets and don’t achieve them, it sends a sense of worthlessness or being a failure. So be a child when playing a video game that wants to reach the next level and won’t stop trying no matter how many lives are lost and the times to try again.
Remain calm. It is important that you are in control at all times. Don’t overreact no matter how hard and to what extent you are pushed or pulled. Don’t do or say things that might be difficult to retract. I used to be hot-tempered but I had to pray and teach myself to be quiet in the heat of any confrontation.
Be confident in yourself. I have met people that don’t value themselves or see themselves as valuable. They shortchange themselves and talk them themselves from various opportunities. They have never tried but just brand themselves as not good enough or qualified compared to others.
In conclusion,
Challenges are necessary for change and they come daily, weekly or monthly. My friend, I urge you not be defeated by them. Instead, let your scars be a reminder of where you have been, how far you have come, and the victories you have achieved. Don’t give up on your dreams, continue to aspire to break the glass ceilings of your life and keep scaling those heights. Remember, the more challenges you face, the higher your potential to make better and achieve greater things.
Good Morning sir,
Thank You for this post. I have found this statement to be so true “We pray for the best but act and plan for the worst”. Also, some believers fall into this category “very religious but far from that in their actions”.
It is important to know that our actions must match our speech which is true faith. I have made a conscious decision not to speak anyhow and also not to get too comfortable with every achievement but strife for better.
Thank You Sir
God Bless You
Goodmorning Sir.
Detailed, direct and inspiring write up.
Thank You.
“See yourself differently” and “Remain calm”. These two resonated well with me.
Thank you so much for sharing these insights with us. I always look forward to reading your blog.
Hmmm… “What qualifies you for a change of level or progress is the continuous delivery of quality outputs in the tasks assigned”. We cannot expect growth and next level success if we have not shown diligence and commitment to the demands of the current phase.
Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Change is challenging because of the uncertainty, risk and fear. It takes the grace of the Holy Spirit to go from a comfortable current state to something new. I pray that God will help us to adopt a growth mindset.
This post is very insightful. Change and challenges work together hand in hand. To see a change, we must get ready for the challenges that comes with it. Thanks for sharing.
A timely word in season. God bless you
Remain calm. Hardest part
In every circumstance and phase of life there are challenges and they are each unique and different, but one thing remains and that is the individual and how he/she reacts to them all. You have outlined great steps and my personal take from this write up is to be calm and be confident as you have written above. Thank you for this.
Well written and thought out post. One remarkable fact is that “challenges are challenges. They must come to help you get farther.”
The points are well driven home. Even though the write-up is long, but, if fully digested, can definitely help birth a better outlook on life.
Thanks for this, Uncle Dan. Quite timely!
“Talk is Cheap”, “Take steps!”
Profound life lessons!
Thank you and God bless you for this,
