This topic came to my mind within the first few months of the year while thinking of my upcoming birthday. Several thoughts ran through my mind when the topic popped up and I felt I should share with you my wonderful friend reading this. Interestingly, the recent emergence of the COVID-19 has made it necessary to share these with you. I hope and pray that while reading this, your mind will be opened to recognising moments and opportunities God brings your way.
Counting days can be very annoying and exhausting especially when there is nothing particular that you are looking forward to. Counting days will in most cases bring bad memories of tears and sorrow. So I thought to myself instead of doing that and taking myself through that painful experience, why don’t I count my days and appreciate every moment that I have had because it’s an opportunity to learn something. I have discovered that such a perspective will help you anticipate more blissful moments that will definitely come my way soon.
You cannot do without counting days because it is a vital part of moving ahead. Counting days alone helps to track mistakes and wish things were different but adding appreciating moments to that will help you draw strategies to make improvements from your flaws and even success.
What I’m saying is that you should stop focusing on your losses or how many times you got knocked down but instead start focusing more on the things you can learn from various experiences you have come across in your life thus far. The songwriter says “count your blessing, name them one by one and it would surprise you what the Lord has done”. This mentality will make you cry a few times because your eye will be opened to Gods love for you areas of your shortcomings. It will also open your mind to new strategies for success and improvements in areas of weakness. I’ll pick those tears any day over crying and suffering in my pains or regrets.
Appreciating moments helps you to look beyond the evil people planned for you. I have learnt to take a cue from Joseph in looking ahead to the Glorious plans of God.
Genesis 50:20
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
After having series of regrets and downfalls, (which I must say is a necessary part of life and journey to stardom) I told myself that I will not regret anything that happens in my life anymore but instead I’ll look for what I can learn and how I can make improvements so that I don’t fall like I did in the past and so that I can scale higher heights in future. It is important for you to know that God has a glorious destiny for you regardless of what your present situation looks like at the moment. All you need to do is to start appreciating and utilising the moments that come your way. A popular saying is “an opportunity once lost cannot be recovered”.
1 Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Let’s take for instance the ongoing pandemic that has been on for the past few months. It’s a simile negative situation but I urge you to take a cue from Joseph and look beyond the negativity. That will do you good and help you renew your mind thereby creating a fertile ground for creativity and advancement. For me, during this period I have looked outside of the things going on and did things to make myself feel great. For example, I started having some quality conversations with my dad in the night, I got a to read a few books for personal and relationship development and also got to both renovate and furnish an apartment I got during the period. The negative situation definitely created an open door but all I had to do was to walk towards that door and open it up.
Apart from my own, a few people have gotten promoted, improved their diet, improved relationships and even family bonding time so tell me what your excuse is that you can’t create some magic.
On a final note, I’ll like to remind you that you are for sure the architect of your own destiny so don’t allow any negative situation block your front view in life. Negative situations are only permitted to be in your rearview mirror. I also encourage to use your downtime as an opportunity to draw up new strategies for an extraordinary comeback.
I pray that in the Name of Jesus every misfortune has ended in your life and you will begin to enjoy the favour of God that will colour your efforts and cover all your errors.
Nice one, I pray God to continue to see us through, thanks for sharing..
Thank you for taking few minutes to read
Amen to your prayer
Thanks for this, it’s really so important. It’s hard sometimes to focus on the positives when the negatives outweigh the positives, but like the Bible made us understand, worrying never helped anybody grow an additional hair strand, but Thanksgiving and thinking on the positives actually cause multiplication of the positives. May God continue to help us. Thank you sir 😊
Hmm, I agree with Worrying only makes things more difficult. Thanksgiving is a key to unlocking continuous multiplication.
Thank you for sharing thoughts with me
Amazing content… I must indeed say, I’m also a living testimony of how God can make anything happen for you regardless the situation because, this has indeed been my best year ever. Things are just working out and I return all the Glory back to God. Thanks for sharing and happy birthday in advance!
I’m super happy to know that you are a living testimony of this write up.
Thank you so much
This is very motivational and it sums up Psalms 90:12 “So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto WISDOM”.
The write-up simply places emphasis on the need to apply wisdom in our everyday living. I think it is great wisdom to appreciate moments even in difficult situations. May God continue to help us in Jesus Name, Amen.
Thank you Daniel for this exposition.
Hmm! That is a key scripture.
I’ll encourage you to please read 1 Sam 8:5,14,15&30 because it explains the need for everyday wisdom.
Thank you
So Good!
Appreciation & gratitude shifts our focus from the negatives. It changes our focus!
It’s also good to remember that our best days are ahead of us! May we always find strength to forget the past and keep moving forward; in there lies some great treasures. So good! Thanks for sharing Dan, I picked up some practical lessons.
I thank God that you picked a few things because His message has reached His child 😁

Gratitude is the right attitude for altitude. I’m grateful for where God brought me from. I’m grateful for where I’m and I’m thankful for where He is taking me.
